Every contractor needs two estimates: a fast quote to win the job and a detailed estimate to protect the margin. Here's how to do both.

Step 1 — Fast quote (plinth area method)

Multiply built-up area by a per-sq-ft rate:

A 1500 sq ft standard house ≈ ₹27–33 lakh.

Step 2 — Detailed estimate

Break the build into stages and price each:

1. Excavation & footing
2. Columns, plinth beam
3. Superstructure (slab, walls)
4. Plastering
5. Flooring & tiling
6. Electrical & plumbing
7. Doors, windows, painting

For each stage, list material quantity × rate + labour. This is where profit is made or lost.
